The Barony
Dating from 1889 this former church – whose south front is inspired by Dunblane Cathedral, with a floor plan based on the Cathedral in Gerona, Spain – is a splendid neo-gothic confection in red sandstone on the edge of the Merchant City, in Glasgow’s historic heart.
The Victorian splendour offered by the Barony is unique and being a truly flexible venue, it is suitable for a variety of event types.
Home to the University of Strathclyde’s graduation ceremonies, the Barony’s Great Hall is a stunning venue for hospitality – seated dinners for up to 220 and standing receptions of 400 – and accommodating up to 540 in theatre-style. With it’s beautiful glass ceiling, the Winter Gardens is ideal for a pre-dinner drinks reception, and the Bicentenary Hall offers stunning stained-glass windows and wooden surroundings, just perfect for smaller events, accommodating up to 100 for a drinks reception or up to 80 for a seated dinner.
The Barony is located adjacent to the historic Cathedral Precinct. The venue is within easy walking distance of city centre attractions, hotels and transport links, and is available for hire year-round.
Whatever your event, our Conferencing and Events team will work with you from enquiry to delivery to ensure that your guests have the very best experience.”
