Initial release of 12,000 tickets sells out, showing increasing appetite for major cycling events in the country

Working with partners Event Scotland, Glasgow Life, and Flanders Classics, the capacity for the event has been extended to 15,000 after extra 2000 tickets sold fast

Milestone reinforces desire for more international cycling events across multiple disciplines in the UK

The breadth of cycling’s appeal in the UK continues to grow as due to further high demand, a final 3,000 tickets have been released for the UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup round three in Kelvingrove Park, Glasgow on Sunday 13 December.

This follows on from an initial release of 10,000 tickets selling out, with 2,000 more being added last month. That next release then quickly sold out, showing the strong demand for international competition in the UK.

Working alongside our partners, Event Scotland, Glasgow Life and Flanders Classics, British Cycling Ventures has increased the capacity to 15,000, demonstrating the desire for more world class cycling events in this country.

The final release of tickets comes ahead of the return of the UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup to the UK for the first time in 12 years, bringing world-class racing back to British audiences and delivering a major sporting occasion for Glasgow, strengthening the UK’s position as a prime host of international events.

Fans descending on Glasgow can also look forward to a day filled with competitive and enthralling action, as three premier races will be held, with a junior race today being announced as the opening contest of the day. The elite women’s and men’s races will then follow separately after.

UCI Cyclo Cross

The UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup round three will be another cycling event attended by tens of thousands of people that can be added to British Cycling Ventures’ portfolio, after thousands of fans flocked to the roadside to watch the Lloyds Tour of Britain. This milestone demonstrates the demand for cycling events of a variety of disciplines, expanding the sport’s appeal in this country, deepening engagement with current fans, and encouraging new audiences to follow cycling.

Darren Henry, Managing Director of British Cycling Ventures, commented on the final ticket release, “We are pleased to announce the final release of 3,000 tickets, as we look to welcome 15,000 passionate cycling fans to Glasgow. The response to ticket sales reinforces our ambition to build a diverse portfolio of world-class cycling events across multiple disciplines and showcases fans’ appetite for similar events and creating a memorable experience as we continue to look to grow cycling in the UK.”

Further updates on a full schedule, activations to look forward to, and riders competing will be revealed in the weeks ahead.
