Family-owned luxury Irish hotel group The Address Collective has revealed a first look at Address Wren, its second boutique property in Glasgow.
Officially opening this Friday, 17 July, ahead of the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, Address Wren is a design-led, 30-bedroom penthouse hotel occupying the top floor of the iconic Caledonian Chambers building at 87 Union Street, directly above Glasgow Central Station.
The opening marks the seventh hotel in The Address Collective's growing portfolio, following the successful launch of the award-winning The Address Glasgow in 2023.
Perched high above the station's famous glass roof, Address Wren offers panoramic views across the city alongside The Address Collective's signature blend of contemporary luxury, thoughtful design and warm Irish hospitality.
Designed around the idea of warmth, comfort, and sanctuary, the interiors draw inspiration from the hotel's namesake – the wren. Conceived by The Address Collective, the brand draws on the bird's association with nesting safely above the city, mirroring the guest experience within the hotel's elevated setting.
Working within the building's intimate footprint, the design team created a scheme that embraces the property's compact scale while maximising its character. A rich, warm palette of blush tones throughout the bedrooms is paired with deeper, more dramatic colours in the public spaces, creating a welcoming atmosphere from arrival through to the guest rooms. Existing oak timber flooring has been retained throughout much of the hotel, adding texture and authenticity while reinforcing the overall sense of warmth.
While The Address Wren has its own distinct identity, subtle design connections have been maintained with neighbouring sister property The Address Glasgow. The Parlour provides a visual link between the two hotels, creating continuity across the Glasgow collection while allowing Wren to establish its own boutique personality.
Every piece of furniture throughout the hotel has been custom-designed specifically for Address Wren, reflecting the property's bespoke approach to hospitality.
Lighting plays a central role in the guest experience. Bedrooms feature carefully layered, fully controllable lighting, including concealed warm-white LED lighting integrated into headboards and wall panelling to create a soft glow and enhance the sense of space. The interiors are further elevated by high ceilings painted in darker tones, which contrast with warm wall colours to create a cocooning, intimate feel.
Bespoke upholstered headboards are complemented by cantilevered quartz bedside shelves and adjustable reading lights, while open wardrobe designs reinterpret the traditional hotel bellman's trolley with a contemporary finish. Beautifully presented bathrooms feature drench showers and terrazzo-effect tiles that introduce bold accents of colour without compromising simplicity.
The welcoming atmosphere continues into reception, where guests are greeted by a bespoke reception desk finished with a light quartz worktop, warm lighting and custom joinery, including a Grab 'n' Go counter. Existing storage cupboards have been thoughtfully upcycled with decorative mouldings, new doors and quartz surfaces, reflecting the project's emphasis on craftsmanship and sustainability.
Throughout the guest corridors, a bespoke carpet runner featuring delicate wren footprints offers a playful nod to the hotel's identity. Rather than relying heavily on artwork, the interiors are punctuated with statement mirrors and carefully curated decorative objects, creating moments of interest while maintaining the calm, understated aesthetic.
The Address Wren joins The Address Collective's expanding portfolio of luxury boutique hotels across Ireland and the UK, continuing the group's commitment to delivering design-led destinations that combine exceptional hospitality with a strong sense of place.
Cathal McGettigan, Director of The Address Collective, said:
“We are incredibly proud to open The Address Wren and to further strengthen our presence in Glasgow. This has been a unique and exciting project, transforming the penthouse floor of one of the city’s most recognisable buildings into an intimate, design-led hotel with its own distinctive character.
The Address Wren complements The Address Glasgow while offering guests a more intimate boutique experience, underpinned by the genuine hospitality for which The Address Collective is known. Glasgow has welcomed us warmly since we opened The Address Glasgow in 2023, and we are delighted to continue investing in the city and contributing to its growing visitor economy.”
Rooms at Address Wren start from £150 per night.
